"I'm a map fiend," says Wulf Bodenstein, a collector with a specialist interest in Africa who used to work for Eurocontrol. "I would like to share that knowledge and passion with others."
If old maps make you dream of distant times and far-away places, you may be interested in the Brussels International Map Collectors ' Circle (BIMCC). Inspired by London's International Map Collectors' Society (IMCS), the group held its first meeting last week.
Participants were encouraged to bring along a recently acquired map or atlas and discuss their find with specialists like the curator of the map room at Brussels' Royal Library, a cartographer from Leuven and Jenny Harvey, chairman of London's IMCS.
