Bring together all those interested in ancient maps

Founded 1998, The Brussels Map Circle (BIMCC) aims to provide an informal and convivial forum for all those interested in ancient and modern maps, atlases, charts or globes. We organise lectures and visits as well as publish a specialised magazine.

BIMCC is a non-profit association under Belgian law (Company identification No 0464.423.627).

For purely practical reasons, the Circle has adopted English as its working language. Participants are, however, free to express themselves in any language.

What do you get as member?

Read Maps in History, the biannual illustrated journal of our Circle featuring new articles and contributions by members and specialists, reports on past activities of the Circle, reviews of specialised books and exhibitions, etc.

Join the regular events organised by our Circle and get:

  • Free access to the Map Afternoon, a map evening, bringing together all those interested in maps — members as well as non-members — for an informal chat about an item from their collection. An ideal opportunity to get to know the Circle!

  • Free admission to our international conference on a specific and major topic organised in December;

  • Early registration for an excursion focusing on the history of cartography (exhibition, map collections, etc. - additional fees may apply).

  • WhatsMap? our monthly newsletter, keeping you up to date with the latest news from the field, directly in your email!
