Call for paper: Mapping Identities: Visual Depictions of Scotland

Perth and online, Australia
In 2025, UHI’s Institute for Northern Studies, together with the National Library of Scotland and Landscape Research Group, launched Mapping Identities: Visual Depictions of Scotland. This project, brings together scholars from a wide range of disciplines to explore the ways in which maps have been, and are still, used to interpret and shape Scotland’s understanding of the present, past and future.
They are looking for participants willing to give a 20-minute paper. Abstract of 250-word and 100-word short biographies is to be sent to Oisin Plumb (oisin.plumb@uhi.ac.uk) and Andrew Lind(andrew.lind@uhi.ac.uk) by Wednesday 17 December. Conference will be held at Peth and online on 9-10 February 2026.
